The 11th UNHCR Refugee Film Festival will take place in Sendai, Sapporo, Tokyo, and Osaka from September 17th through October 23rd. The thirteen documentaries and dramas on the schedule hail from France, Italy, the UK, Japan, Germany, Lebanon, the Philippines, Iran, Australia, and Belgium. Titles include Sonita, the story of a young girl from Afghanistan who fled to Iran with her family and is determined, against their wishes, to be a rapper; Peace on the Tigris, which sees director Watai Takeharu following up ten years later with survivors from the 2003 Baghdad airstrikes; and Taklub, which follows the survivors of typhoon Haiyan.
